Face saving murder and destruction
is every bit as ‘unconscionable’
as the acts they deem ‘unconscionable’.

A moral high road  

cluttered with advertisements,  

propaganda crap,
phony hopes and used condoms 

is hardly a high road. 

More like a slight incline 

circling to outline 

a pit filled with mass deceptions.

 Scare us with war talk
then loosen the dogs of speculation
sitting on high, draining us dry,
then tell us again
what's right and what's wrong.

Dark River 

On a far river bank I see 

knee high boots crushing skulls. 

On the other far side I see 

strange perversions lurking, waiting

for the times to change again,

and on a dark river I go

dead center adrift, bewildered I row 

but somehow know 

the worst is still yet to come. 

Rebooting the Fear

There’s nothing like a big, scary apparition

to help justify 

a surveillance program fit for a government 

hell bent on

convincing it's people it’s for their own good.

The enemy is within
but they point over there.
The signs are clear
but they know not where.

So the best thing to do
they openly declare
is lock up all the doors
and get out of there.

The difference between terrorists 

who hate our government 

and want to shut it down 

and the ‘obstructionist crew’

who hate our government 

and threaten to shut it down 

is, um,  beyond me,

Our head cheerleader
likes to speech us to death
while the players play
and ignore his every word.

Shutdown Tactic

Put a big booger on a cookie
then give it to a kid
and if he refuses to eat it
tell everyone the kid hates cookies.

The USCA
(United States of Corporate America) 

Nickel and dime us to death.  

It’s what our passivity demands. 

One nation under corporate rule 

and the profit for which it stands.

Forget all previous pledges, 

the world is quite different now.

Watch what you do and say 

and don't question why or how.

Just pay the bill and move on. 

It’s all thy master expects.

Debit is the preferable method

but it will accept checks.

On judgment day
the lord from his mighty throne will ask,
‘did you give your profit loss statement to Peter
on your way in?’ and if you did
he will direct you to your just deserves.

But if you didn’t and say something like
‘I thought money wasn’t the most important thing in life’
he will laugh and ask,
‘do you still have teeth to gnash?'

Good Bad Guys

In their shoes, 

from their point of view 

they are right 

and fight the good fight.

Absurd as it seems

their irrationality 

is quite rational to them 

who flip us off.

Problem is 

their numbers will grow 

and that's something

beyond anyone’s control.

So, stand your ground 

and mow them all down 

and thank your lucky stars 

you live in America.

Dog Days

I cringe, shrug and turn away, no way 

am I going to watch that display 

of stupidity anymore, such a bore, all the gore 

shoved down our viewing throats.

Switch the channel to the news, the blues 

like inky shadows prevail, oh hell 

just turn the damn thing off.  

Take a walk to the mini mall where all 

seek shelter from the heat and eat 

tasty morsels of processed crap they lap 

up like hungry dogs.
