‘Tis the Season

December must be
the month of lies.
Jobless rates down.
A fat man flies.

Gifts abound
and no one cries.
Sales sky rocket
and everyone buys.

Smiles on every face.
Jingles in the air.
The idol shines bright
and none will dare

tell the truth
about ribbons and bows
turning to nooses
when a cold wind blows

in January.
